Presentation of the Dordogne : Périgord, Limousin

The Dordogne is the department of the south-west of France in the Aquitaine region. It is one of the largest departement in terms of area (786,048 ha). It is often associated with the Perigord, name of the former province sharing the same borders.


Périgueux is its prefecture and part of Agen, Limousin and Angoumois. Haute-Vienne to the east, Corrèze to the south, Lot and Lot-et-Garonne and the Gironde to the south border it besides  the Charente-Inferior and the Charente to the west.
